Steel is almost entirely recyclable, an ideal material for a sustainable circular economy. At the same time, the majority of the carbon footprint from our pipe manufacturing originates in the upstream steel production process. This is precisely where Salzgitter AG’s SALCOS® transformation program comes in. Here the goal is to switch to using green hydrogen and electricity from renewable sources for steel production. We are also working closely with steel suppliers from within and outside the Salzgitter Group who use steel production processes with a lower carbon footprint.

We achieve this by focusing on the careful selection of starting material, continuous technology scouting, energy-efficient manufacturing methods, and sustainable logistics. Our steel tube technologies are durable and fully recyclable. We ensure full transparency by providing the carbon footprint for every product.
