Mannesmann’s KSG1000 is a new, high-performance steel designed for use in vehicle powertrains. It combines approximately 20% higher strength with a weight reduction of about 20%, thereby opening up new possibilities for efficient, high-performance powertrain designs – regardless of powertrain type. As the first example of this new class of materials, Mannesmann KSG1000 is already on its way to series production and is setting new standards in terms of performance, efficiency, and design flexibility.
Shafts for electric vehicles are often subjected to high torque over a long service life. Thanks to innovative materials such as 23MnCrMo5 for intermediate shafts or 45MnB5 for side shafts, high torque can be delivered almost immediately. This allows transmissions to be designed more compactly and reduces weight.
