Rotor Shafts

Rotor shafts for electrically driven vehicles are components with most advanced requirements for dimensional and geometric tolerances due to the high rotational speed.

Mannesmann Innovations for Hydrogen Cars

Hydrogen can be used either with an electrical engine in combination with a fuel cell or in a hydrogen combustion engine to act as an energy alternative to today’s fuels. To carry enough hydrogen for a reasonable traveling distance it needs to be stored at high pressure levels up to 700 bar. The presence of hydrogen at high pressure load is a challenging task for materials.

Thanks to years of experience in material science and high-pressure applications, Mannesmann can offer products which fit to these needs.

Hydrogen High-Pressure Tanks

As part of the public funded program HySteelStore, Mannesmann (in cooperation with Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung and Robert Bosch) has developed steel precision tubes, which pave the way for hydrogen storage tanks.

These tubes allow a modular storage design which can be fitted in the most efficient way in passenger vehicles. Besides, steel is offering a powerful and cost-efficient alternative to CFRP tanks which are used today.

Hydrogen High-Pressure Lines

Reliable high-pressure lines are needed to connect the hydrogen storage system with the engine. This can either be a combustion engine or a fuel cell.

With a proper material selection Mannesmann offers a sustainable and cost-efficient alternative to lines made from corrosion resistant alloys.
